Interactive Patient Education Software for Orthopaedic Surgeons

History

An idea is born...

Healthcare information technology provider, Brad Melis saw a need for electronic patient charting. Melis formed a company called Task Technologies to create the first product version of what would later become ChartLogic EMR. Melis and a small team of Health IT professionals started in the basement and back-office of a podiatry clinic in Salt Lake City, Utah. As the product was refined, he sold it to many local clinics to replace their transcription and eliminate the need for paper charts.

The core product innovation was built upon the belief that doctors needed a cost effective way to document their patient encounters, and then store the patient records electronically. At the time, there were no EMRs, and practice management companies had not yet seen any reason for a clinical solution.

Innovation meets...golf?

Melis met Dr. Bruce Jorgenson, a local pediatrician and entrepreneur at an industry trade show. Dr. Jorgenson immediately loved the product, but decided that he wanted more. His ideas were based on speed and efficiency. "You cannot slow the doctor down", was one of Dr. Jorgenson's favorite mantras. Eventually, Dr. Jorgenson agreed to buy but wanted a way to use the product in the exam room, so he could go home every night, on time. Dr. Jorgenson wrote his list of requirements on the back of a Titleist golf ball box-top, and commissioned Brad to build ChartLogic EMR.

Melis and his team moved Dr. Jorgenson's large pediatric practice. Using the knowledge gained from observing live patient encounters, they built ChartLogic EMR - the most innovative product on the market. ChartLogic EMR didn't require the physician to change what they were used to, and has allowed greater medical practice office efficiency only dreamed of by Melis and Dr. Jorgenson.

The ChartLogic EMR product made it possible for physicians to complete a patient chart electronically with ease, in less time, and at a fraction of the cost of conventional paper charts while utilizing the same technique that physicians have used for years - their voice!

With ongoing research and development, the company developed added value products to help physicians including the PrecisionVoice™ driven ChartLogic EMR, which integrates proprietary software with voice driven commands, dictation, specialty specific vocabulary, microphones, hardware and training - all optimized to achieve highly accurate voice recognition and time saving shortcuts from the start.

ChartLogic today...

In 2003, the company name changed from Task Technologies to ChartLogic Inc.

ChartLogic was not born of a practice management system. It was born of a doctor and a health IT provider, dreaming of ways to solve problems surrounding patient chart management. ChartLogic has continued to focus on the physician experience, ensuring that any investment in the ChartLogic EHR solution is going to succeed.

Practice Management vendors who have subsequently built EMRs, have focused solely on the administrator and the back office needs, often ignoring the need to make the product usable by doctors. ChartLogic has adapted to these administrator needs as well, but has never diverged its core focus of understanding doctors and building its product to flexibly and easily adapt to the unique clinical workflows of every physician.

ChartLogic offers two comprehensive electronic health record solutions that include electronic medical records, superior medical billing software, document management, and interactive patient education.

ChartLogic has helped thousands of practices across the country make the transition to digital medical offices and in doing so helped erase annual transcription costs and the cost of managing paper while increasing office staff efficiency.

ChartLogic is dedicated to help physicians provide better patient care through better technology.
